In the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Abe Ramsey, a fugitive from the FBI, falls in love with Layla Turner, the daughter-in-law of the Governor. Kenneth Leymann, a long-time friend of the Governor receives a lucrative logging contract for portions of Pisgah National Forect. Skirmishes between the Panther Patrol (an anti-logging group), the FBI (who are protecting logging rights), and Kenneth Layman's henchmen escalate into a deadly conflict which alters the course of Layla's life forever.
