My mother's daughter. [large print] Judith Henry Wall.
Two sisters, Martha Claire and Justine, move from girlhood to adulthood with different points of view and vastly different dreams. Martha Claire, the pivotal character, is content with her small-town life; home, hearth, and old-fashioned family values are the only way for her. The rest of the family, Justine especially, fail to live up to her standards. Martha Claire holds fast--annoyingly so--to her ideals. She grants redemption and forgiveness of a sort to the people she views as transgressors but only after she has led a very long life of rigidly held ideals. With a somewhat sentimental and soap opera-ish point of view, this novel is not for every reader; but its romantic tone and old-fashioned morality will provide, for the appropriate person, an emotional and moving experience.
